1. Bleeding and dental implants
The first 24 hours after the operation the bleeding is absolutely normal. To reduce or stop it, you can squeeze a piece of gauze for about 5 minutes.
It is important to note that if the bleeding persists for more than a day, the dentist should be informed immediately.
Avoid taking aspirin and medications containing acetyl silicic acid because they dilute the blood and bleeding may increase.
2. Pain and dental implants
During the first 2-3 days you may have some discomfort. The pain will gradually decrease over the next few days.
Your doctor will prescribe a painkiller that will allow you to control the pain.
3. Avoid consuming hot foods and beverages after dental implantation
After completing the dental implant procedure, the patient should not eat until the effect of local anesthesia has passed.
Hot food leads to increased bleeding, so the consumption of hot foods and beverages should be avoided for the first 24 hours after dental implant surgery.
4. Observe good oral hygiene
The next day after the procedure, we recommend that our patients start rinsing their mouth with chlorhexidine or warm salt water: (1 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water) twice a day. Continue rinsing with the mixture for the next few days after surgery.
Brush your teeth and gums as usual, but be careful in the area where the dental implant.
5. Drink more fluids after dental implant surgery
Optimal fluid intake is very important. After dental implants procedure, the patient should take at least 8 glasses of water. Water helps with healing processes after surgery and also relieves pain and discomfort.
6. Do not touch the area of dental implants with your tongue
Patients who have undergone a dental implant procedure should not touch the site with their tongue or finger, as they may cause trauma that could lead to additional complications.
7. Avoid strenuous exercise
We recommend that you take 2-3 days off after placing dental implants, as well as avoid heavy exercise and strain.
8. Do not suck the wound
After the operation, the site is sutured with biodegradable sutures that do not need to be removed. Patients should not suck the wound, as this can lead to heavy bleeding.
9. Avoid smoking
Smoking has been shown to slow healing. Therefore, we advise our smoking patients to stop smoking, at least until the wound heals.
